Laboratories

The Geiger group facilities at Northwestern include four state-of-the-art ultrafast laser laboratories, wetlab space, and standard office space in Tech. Two laser labs (700 and 500 net square feet) house one ultrafast amplifier each and standard SHG and SFG single photon counting and microscopy assemblies. One lab (400 net square feet) houses a Ti:S oscillator with SHG detection. The fourth lab houses a 1-200 kHz heterodyne-detection SHG spectrometer and an SHG imaging microscope.

Laser lab air is provided by an industrial Hepa filtration system. Temperature and relative humidity are maintain to within a degree and drift at an acceptable rate with the seasons. A fifth lab houses a computerized contact angle goniometer for interfacial tension measurements and electronic workbenches for materials testing. A wet lab with four wide hoods provides space for for sample preparation.
